Welcome to our Religious Education Program! We are so pleased that you and your family are exploring our webpage and we hope to see you soon! Our Religious Education program here at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota is designed to be a holistic approach to personal development providing a space where children, youth, and families can realize their own potential and talents so that they can then share those gifts with the larger community. Below is our children's version of our Unitarian Universalist beliefs. Please take the time to see what we have to offer you and your family and ways you can make our growing community even better!
Our children’s version of our Unitarian Universalist principles: We believe
We have lots of exciting things going on with our program. We have 4 separate age brackets that meet and have class during Sunday service. We currently have one service at 10:30 am throughout the summer and fall. We have a Nursery room, Pre-k/1st Grade classroom, 2nd/5th Grade classroom, and a Teen room for our Youth Group. For more information on each please click on their tab at the top of this page. In addition to our curriculum, we have Children's Chapel for the first 15 minutes after the children have arrived. The Children’s Chapel experience will be a chance to help our children learn the “how’s” and “why’s” of worship. Through fostering a love and reverence for worship, we will build connections of respect and harmony. Children’s Chapel will mirror the adult service with singing hymns, closing words, and exploring hands-on ways to experience worship, such as, dance, guided meditation, artist expression of prayers and ideas, role playing, and theater. After Children’s chapel the kids will go back to their designated age-based classrooms and continue there lessons from our tapestry of faith curriculum. Every fourth Sunday and fifth, if there happens to be one, we will have either a social action, art, or music project lined up. On these Sundays we will not be using the curriculum, but utilizing the time to become more hands on. I believe experiencing and understanding things that are universal such as art and music are very important to everyone, especially our youth and children. The Journey of Unitarian Universalism continues with you! Regina Bucher Director of Religious Education [email protected] |
